Hope Tabernacle first began in 1996 under the direction of its founding pastors Rev. George and Grace Rosado. Directors of New Life Home for Women and Children, they saw a need to bring these hurting women and their children to a church where they could worship freely. Unable to find a church home they decided to start Hope Tabernacle in the inner city of Manchester. Realizing there are so many others hurting in the largest city north of Boston the church has remained at its location on Cedar Street. Over its 17 year history Hope Tabernacle has remained a beacon of light to the inner city families of Manchester. In 2009 Rev. John and Evelyn Rivera became the pastors and continue the original vision for the church by reaching hurting and needy families of the community. The church continues to proclaim the hope that is found in Jesus Christ.
Statement of Belief:
We believe that Jesus Christ is the source and purpose of everything we do. We are a community of Christ followers committed to each other and to reaching the unbelieving community.
We believe the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the living, inspired, inerrant and eternal word of God. The Bible contains the revealed will of God to humanity and is the only infallible and sufficient guide to our Christian faith.
We believe Scripture is completely true and therefore free from any falsehood, fraud, deceit or contradiction.
We believe that God eternally exists in three Persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—and that these three are one God, having the same nature, attributes, power and perfections.
We believe man was created in the image of God, but because of the sin of disobedience has been separated from an intimate fellowship with his creator and that all mankind shares this sinful nature.
We believe Jesus is the eternal Son of God, took upon Himself the form of a man by means of the virgin birth, and lived a sinless life.
We believe that atonement for sin was made by the sacrificial and substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.
We believe in the literal resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and His priestly intercession.
We believe salvation is the gift of God by grace alone and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that this faith is manifested in works pleasing to God.
We believe the Holy Spirit is the Promise of the Father, the Comforter who indwells within the Christian and serves as a deposit, guaranteeing our eternal inheritance in Christ, and bestows spiritual gifts upon the Church and convicts the world of sin and the judgment to come. While all believers are indwelt by the Spirit of God, we believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a definite endowment of power for service and is separate from conversion.
We believe Jesus is the head of the Church and he uses his Church to make visible here on earth his invisible kingdom in Heaven; we are citizens of his kingdom. We believe that the ordinances of the church, by the command of Christ, are Water Baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper, both of which are administered to those who are born again.
We believe in the eternal salvation of the believers and in the eternal damnation and punishment of the nonbelievers. We believe that the consummation of all things includes the visible, personal, and glorious return of Jesus Christ the "Blessed Hope" of the Church
